Savannah Supervisors
On a recent renovation of our fireplace, Aja and Shombay took charge and supervised the whole project. Normally I would lock them in their safe room, but the workers are good friends that love animals and have met the cats before.
Both the cats are friendly and like to meet friends, family, and strangers. Shombay is very nosey and loves tools----he snatched a couple but we retrieved them quickly.
Aja saw all the fuss and got in on the action, stealing sponges right out of the bucket (she likes water more than Shombay).Aja even walked across the floor of the hearth and left fresh footprints. We kept them as part of the fireplace (how could we not).
Shombay at one point discovered bubble wrap just by walking on it. He drove me crazy with the popping until he started to bite it, that's when I ruined the party and took it away.
After being scolded, Aja in her typical "Diva" fashion stormed off to another room to take a nap. Snapping her tail like a human would snap their fingers with attitude. Thank goodness she soon forgives!

Summer Antics
Aja and Shombay are excellent jumpers and like to hang out in high places. When I can't find them, I just have to look up, they are not far away. Aja is very elegant and graceful when leaving her perches. Unlike her, Shombay sounds like a sumo wrestler dismounting the parallel bars. Poor baby has no idea how big he is!
Here is Shombay in his new fun house made of safari cubes and tunnels--the possibilities are endless. The igloo did not make it this year! Shombay dive bombed Aja inside and snapped two of the support poles. The only thing missing from this contraption is the plastic bottom we had in the igloo, so no more batting around ice cubes.
Shombay looooves power tools & appliances and will puff up his tail and get his "happy" fur on (looks like a cat mohawk) when he gets excited. Here he doesn't know what to think about the dishwasher. Aja tries to coax him closer by showing him that it is O.K.

My orchids are beautiful this year! They are the only live plants I can keep in the house. For some reason Aja and Shombay have absolutely no intrest in them, all other plants they shred. Not to worry Adrianne - they are not posionous.
It is hard to believe the kids have been with us for over a year now. We have established a daily routine that includes Shombay helping me read the morning paper. It was cute when he was a little kitten. Now, not so cute, he tries to climb under it and play peek a boo. Eventually he gets tired of it and wanders off and I am stuck trying to piece it back together to read.
This is also part of our nightly routine: play hard, watch a little T.V., then off to bed.

Spring has finally arrived
Shombay jumps for joy now that the long winter months are just about over.
We had fun watching Mother Nature's storms and the little creatures fighting to survive.(all the wildlife around here is fed very well)
Now we are just enjoying the beautiful flowers and look forward to sunbathing.
Shombay looks like a tough guy, but he is a real sweetie that will run and hide during thunderstorms. If Ajay is not around to snuggle with he will use one of our pillows.
Here Ajay is showing off her big beautiful Savannah ears.(they hear everything-doorknobs,treats,whispers,footsteps-everything)
She takes daily inventory of the toy wands which fit nicely in this whicker vase. And yes she can hear us getting a toy out from two floors away.

Fall 2008
We have been spending alot of time outside enjoying the last of the good golfing weather. And the kids have been extra needy of our time. Look what happened when someone left cat treats out on the counter. We call them kids because it is just like having little kids around.(we love it)
As you can see, Aja won the king of the mountain contest. I have this stand in the kitchen to keep them off the counters.- ha ha- They do love to watch all the action.
Shombay and Aja played in their igloo all summer long, batting around ice cubes. Like Wilbur and Moja, they help themselves to the ice despenser and must be locked out.
Summer is over and so is the igloo - on Aja's head to be exact - and yet they remain good friends. With the holidays just around the corner, they will have plenty of other things to enjoy.
